Jodi's Art

In the musical field Johannes seems to converge on a single plane a large part of what characterizes his work: technical knowledge and irony are combined with aesthetic and sound experimentation.
The artist creates unique musical instruments, with unusual shapes and operations, or is inspired by traditional ones, which breaks up and reassembles them under new profiles. These unusual instruments are played with different executive techniques than the traditional ones and produce, obviously, equally exceptional sounds. They are subdivided between instruments that produce sounds electronically and others that are acoustically produced. It also employs mechanical filters: the sound is produced electronically, then it is filtered by different materials, such as springs, sheets, bolts, to be then recovered and amplified through the use of microphones. So the sound passes through the objects, responding to the almost boyish desire, to discover and steal the very sound of matter.

The acoustic experimentation mixes with the sculptural one: it is a well-established habit of the artist to equip each circuit constructed for its kinetic works of an audio output, almost as a complement to a mystical demiurgical operation where the essence of life can not be separated from the presence of sound .Johannes begins to compose music in a sort of natural path between the construction of unconventional instruments and their application. In his songs the drive to leave the "ranks" is strong: these rules are perceived as limiting, belonging to a mode of communication that tends to simplify the listener's role, while at the same time depriving him of the infinite experiential possibilities reached through the sound adventure Johannes's music is therefore full of a protest movement to the conventional, to the "normally perceived and received". In the years there are many meetings with musicians and experimenters of all kinds: he played with jazz musicians, classical musicians, bel canto and children, collecting endless hours of recording, which correspond to an equal number of states of consciousness through which the artist can explore and together describe his visionary and emotional world. The album "The Voices of the Wind" comes from this type of creative journey: the repeated listening to hours of recordings produced by its Wind Power Harps, or instruments co It is necessary to stay outside, equipped with pic-ups that capture the wind and which, thanks to the amplification, produce sounds. For the artist it was an illuminating experience: "a product not created by a human mind, but instead the chaos and randomness of nature that are manifested in all their beauty and harmony".
