Jodi's Art

February 12, 1945 - Johannes Dimpflmeier was born in Rome, from German parents. He spent his childhood with his family in Ovindoli, in Abruzzo. Since he was a child he showed a strong interest in the mechanics and the functioning of the things that surround him.
1952 - At the age of seven he was enrolled at the German school in Rome.
1962 - He moved to Villingen, Germany, to carry out an apprenticeship in radiotechnics at the SABA company.
1967 - He enrolled at the Folkwangschule University of Essen, where he graduated as an Industrial Designer. He studies drawing, graphics, design, ergonomics.
1971 - He moved to Paris, where he worked for an audiovisual company. He made his first interactive kinetic sculpture, which was purchased and exhibited at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris.
1971 - He moved to Stockholm and worked at a company of HI-FI systems.
1972 - He moved to Berlin, where he held various trades: electrotechnical; designer; multimedia expert; technician assigned to the audio-visual laboratory; antenna installation; apprentice in a carpenter's shop; educator for children. It is an unhappy and unproductive period for the artist: of his vast production of works only a couple of great kinetic sculptures were made during this period.
1987 - This is the year of the turning point in Johannes's life: he buys a piece of land in the countryside near Tuscania and gradually builds his house and atelier, where he can finally devote himself entirely to his art and live his creativity.
1990s and 2000s - Johannes devotes himself incessantly to the creation of works, makes numerous exhibitions in Italy and Germany, establishes relationships with some gallery owners. Organizes atelier for artistic creation, music and electronics.
Today - Johannes still lives in Tuscania, in his house / laboratory / museum where, surrounded by the thousands of works created over the span of a lifetime, he continues his artistic and creative journey
