Jodi's Art

Like the curious Alice with the white rabbit, we too, following Johannes, find ourselves in a wonderland that does not end up surprising us. This country is the brilliant mind of the artist, generous creativity that expresses itself and expands into thousands of works of art.
Sculptures, kinetic works, robots, musical instruments, collages, paintings and other objects populate his house / museum, like a garden of delights inhabited by fantastic creatures that, animated by movements, lights, sounds and voices, invite us to follow Johannes in his wonderful country, on the hill.
Nature, the laws of physics are at the center of the work. The elements are living presences, the movement and the energy are manifested in their changing forms: the breath of the wind, the mechanics of the wheels, the solar radiation, the electric impulse. The sounds of nature and light become matter and rhythm to be molded, and everything holds a perfect and secret gear. Everywhere is the game, the irony, the call to childhood. Sometimes they give way to mystery, to spirituality hidden in the form of things, or to the idea of flight, the yearning for transcendence, the figure of women and the harmony of its curves.
The unstoppable creative nature of Johannes does not need rigorous equipment to get to work, the recovery and reuse of waste are the basis of artistic practice. Every object and material can be a source of inspiration and bend to the wisdom of its gestures: from the electronic and mechanical components of an old appliance, to plastic pipes, pieces of wood, rusty wheels, wire.
The foundation of this overflowing creativity is a solid substratum of technical competence, which makes Johannes a sophisticated engineer: mastering electronics, mechanics, acoustics, optics, carpentry, ironworking and others with skill. metals.
In his work we can trace the influences of futurism, Dadaism, surrealism, and kinetic art. We see Jean Tinguely and Rebecca Horn for kinetic sculptures, Alexander Calder for sculpture, Max Ernst and surrealists for graphics and video art, Giorgio Morandi for painting. Recycling, decontextualization and re-functionalization of everyday objects bring it closer to artists such as Arman, Kurt Schwitters, Marcel Duchamp.
Each of his works is a masterpiece of bricolage and ingenuity, of irony and aesthetic refinement, in which the original stylistic signature of the artist is clearly recognized.
When we enter Johannes's Wonderland, when we meet the robots, the spaceships, the flying women, the dancing feathers, the circus circus performer, the wind workers, above all we have fun and play. This is the most precious gift that the artist offers us, when we follow him and fall into the rabbit hole: he is able to make us return children, to open our eyes and open our mouths, to make us wonder and smile again, with his art.
